Quite likely he would, and quite likely so would you. I would suspect, for example, that you had parents who didn't punish you for independent thought, and that you weren't brought up in a rigid religous home and society where every transgression was severely punished.

Let's not forget that the Hitler Youth were much like our Boy Scouts Very popular. To reject them was not easy for young boys (they did really fun things!), and few parents had the courage to stand up against it, given the consequences.

And if morality really is societally based, then joining the Hitler Youth was moral, and rejecting it was immoral.
