last i checked, the trend was down long before Enron and all the other stuff came to light. This corruption/confidence thing is just another red herring bull hook. don't you remember how the market was supposed to be falling because we weren't sure if gore or bush would be prez? it sure wasn't the soon to be failing economy that people blamed at the time. avoiding reality is a convenient way for some people to stick to their unwavering beliefs, and it's made them a lot poorer. haven't you been wathcing the last 3 years? same with gold...it showed it's hand way, way before 9/11 or any other crap, it's just that people only noticed when they could think of a convenient reason that suited them. it's like the people that once said saying that it's thundering outside because god is angry LOL
