I told the story as accurately as I could remember. I don't know whether they gave the guns back. If they were all pistols, I presume they were not given back owing to the UK's obsession with gun control. Remember, the police grabbed ten thousand guns just to find one like the murderer used. That equates to the rights of ten thousand people being usurped in order to find one guilty party who was smart enough to circumvent the investigation by putting corrosive salts on the gun he used. In your case, you were lucky to get the gun back and I applaud the police for recognizing that the gun was blameless in the tragedy. I have deep sympathy for the victim and the anguish your family must have experienced. I don't loan out my firearms, and generally it's not a good policy.
