Some clarification:

By "Achilles Heel", I was referring to the idea posed by some doom and gloomers that Moore's Law lowers prices by 1/2 and volume will not increase enough to drive revenue growth. You seemed to pose a variation of this in your discussion.

World GDP will be linear, but the driver of GDP growth is geometric. The transition from "Brawn power" to "Brain power" has been and will be "powered" by Moore's Law and the yield is accelerating. The "food" phenomenon is old hat. When I was a kid, the Hudson was filled with WW2 vintage ships that were storing excess grain. Back then, there were no wireless and no laptops and no MP3s and no email and no instant messaging and no digital cameras (still and video). These things haven't been growing linearly and the driver is still doubling. The killer app is "universal connection" and "omnipresence". The first means that all sentient beings and all inanimate products of these beings will be connected. The second means able to 'be there" in real time, wherever a camera is.
