Corvis Announces Formation Of Government Solutions Subsidiary
Forms Technical Advisory Board Comprised of Veteran Defense And Intelligence Experts; Secures First Contract and Purchase Order from the U.S. Government

COLUMBIA, Md., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Corvis Corporation (Nasdaq: CORV - News), a leading provider of intelligent optical networking solutions, today announced that it has established a subsidiary, Corvis Government Solutions, Inc. (CGSI), to provide optical networking solutions and services to the Federal marketplace. Corvis also announced that CGSI has formed a Technical Advisory Board, comprised of defense and intelligence experts from the public and private sectors, and has made an initial sale to the U.S. Government for its next generation optical networking products. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Members of the Corvis Government Solutions Technical Advisory Board include:
Art Money, the former Assistant Secretary of Defense, Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence (C3I) and chief information officer of the Department of Defense; -- Dr. Tom Hartwick, a former executive of Hughes Aircraft Company and TRW, with more than 40 years of R&D, technology transfer/insertion, and mainstream government business experience supporting all segments of the U. S. Government; and
-- Don Walker, Brigadier General, U.S. Air Force (RET), with 29 years of experience in leading major Department of Defense and Intelligence Community systems acquisitions.
