Dear John: Presuming one starts with quality companies, well financed and well managed I look at it even more simply. My premise is this: USA is the strongest economy in the world with the best markets and best access to money etc etc. As USA does so does these companies. While we have our cycles sooner or later it all comes home to roost, either up or down.
My latest thought is this:
IF we rid Iraq of Saddam (peacefully or otherwise) and by some stroke of luck a decent govt get imposed either Democratic or friendly to Democracies their huge oil reserves will become released, Middle East will calm down and energy prices will subside and economic activity increase. I think we could have an upward explosion much faster then the pundits now say. Of course, on the other hand if we bog down into a protracted war with the entire Middle east exploding all hell will break loose in the markets and fuel costs will skyrocket. So, it boils down to this: You lay your bets and take your chances. (gg) jdn
