"The Japanese practiced some MAJOR "economic imperialism" to use Noel's definition, trying to increase their market share of goods such as Autos and Semi-Conductors by subsidizing R&D through MITI.. They almost put the US automakers and Semi Fabs out of business from their dumping.." and the Japanese economy has been stagnant for a very long time. Perhaps the USA should learn from the Japanese experience and really open up for free trade and not "fair" trade which is subject to interpretation(usually by the stronger side).
