Alex Marasco Named General Manager, CheckFree Investment Services; Frank Polashock to Retire and Serve as Advisor for One Year

ATLANTA, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq: CKFR - News) today announced it has named Alex Marasco to succeed Frank Polashock as general manager of its CheckFree Investment Services division (CIS) effective November 1, 2002. Polashock, who has led the division for the past five years, will retire as general manager at the end of October but will continue in an advisory capacity for the next year. Mr. Polashock originally planned to retire in 2001 but agreed to extend his employment agreement to November 1, 2002 in order to build and execute a succession plan. Mr. Marasco, hired in January 2002 for the purpose of succeeding Mr. Polashock, is currently executive vice president of operations of CheckFree Investment Services and reports to Mr. Polashock. Mr. Marasco will be responsible for the strategic direction and daily operations of the division and will report directly to Pete Sinisgalli, CheckFree's President and Chief Operating Officer. . .
