Cheers, William! Heard the Bush speech last night. I'm still skeptical, but I think he did a good job, and it was the best speech I've heard so far - fairly convincing.
It seems to be a done deal, but how do the people you see in the UK see it?
I still think:
(1) It is very risky. We could start a series of events that ends in WMD use by Iraq, Israel, and/or US. But then, there is that longer-term threat...
Maybe a no-win situation?
(2) If it is as much of a threat as Bush says, why wouldn't the UK, France, the rest of Europe, Japan, etc. be worried too? Europe is far closer...why aren't they concerned more?
I did not vote for Bush, but felt somewhat sorry for him. He has inherited this problem from his father's lack of action 11 years ago.
I do hope - if we go in - we do what is necessary to put in a democratic (or quasi-democratic) state, so that these people can have a normal life. They have lived under this man for decades, and have been bombed repeatedly. Time for better things for their future - hopefully!
