Re: When i heard some Washington shill deny the existence of the PPT back then - I knew it existed

The role of the stock markets in the US economy has increased exponentially since 1989.

The US stock market was worth $2.9 trillion in 1989. At its peak in 2000, the US stock markets were worth more than $18 trillion. Now they are worth around $9 trillion, perhaps, half a trillion less.

Spending by Americans has shown a strong correlation to the NASDAQ. And participation in the US stock markets has surged due to 401k plans. If the US needed a PPT in 1989, then it needs it an order of magnitude more today.
