In psychology, it's called projection. The awful things they(liberals) attribute to others and the reason they make such a fuss about how bad other people are (usually conservatives) results from something they see(but fail to recognize) in themselves; so they simply crank the camera and project themselves into others. Makes them feel good about themselves and assuages their guilt - even though it is self-deceit and delusional.

They also think of themselves as the world's saviors, the only good remnant among the masses. But their "compassion" is misplaced and not really genuine. That's why they always "care" about the poor criminal; yet, rarely care about the real victims of crime - the spouse, the child, the family, the friends of the real victim. Liberals couldn't care less about these folks. They are too busy "defending" the criminal and getting the criminal out of jail.
