IBM buys back undisclosed number of shares as stock hits new year low

ananova.com

International Business Machines Inc is buying an undisclosed number of its own shares as a result of the large drop in the company's share price, a company spokeswoman confirmed.

"We are confirming that we are buying shares," she said.

She declined to say at what price the IT hardware giant is buying the shares or the amount of shares.

Earlier this morning, IBM's share price breached a 52-week low of 55.77. At 1.25 pm in New York, IBM shares had managed to rise above that level and were trading 65 cents or 1.14% lower at $56.21.
