Thanx Eric, I now see some of the foolishness in my thoughts. Further reading and your comments have enlightened me to the fact that I need to take in even more indepth "Reading from the Edge". It must have been tough on the Euro Vendors Boards deciding on their best path to UMTS. It's inevitable that they must get there. But going asap, has involved many major leaps, bounds and huge mounds. To bad, they couldn't have taken smaller steps or at least have been "more" willing to allow Qualcomm to kickstart "more" of their efforts. I do hope at least one of them (Nokia, Ericsson, Siemens or Alcatel) crosses the great technical divide before anyone's creditors come calling. The colapse of a major telecom vendor on either side of the ocean will be bad news for the entire telco industry. It will be easier for the merger of the weak and strong among the providers but some vendors may see more benefit in another's schadenfreude. Thanx again for your clarifications. Trevor
