The article points out exactly what needs to happen with AAPL. The company can't totally abandon its current user base, but something dramatic is called for. AAPL needs to stand back and look at the computer industry, and see what does and what doesn't work. Their way of doing business just doesn't work -- it never really did.

Great products lose out every day. Look at McDonalds. The food may be slop, but the sell the hell out of it. Look at Borland vs. Microsoft languages. But look who's raking in the big $$$$.

I sincerely hope the company's plan to get out of this mess includes scrapping the current way of doing business (which might mean scrapping the current product line). Radical action is called for. Quick.
