If the US did not exist, the degree to which the Arab world would hate Europe would of course depend on Europe's policies affecting their region and their lives.

If you read the poll I posted, you have seen that the reason for which the US is not exactly well-loved in the Arab world is its policies in the region, rather than it being "the tempter leading muslims astray".

"The tempter" is a theme that recurs often in Muslim rhetoric, and you really shouldn't read too much into it. Women are tempters so they need to stay hidden. Wine is a tempter for the faithful. Nevertheless, I do not see these pyromaniac fremen with a mission to blow up the women or the wine factories of this world, the way they seem intent on blowing up Americans and American interests. Why? Because America is more of a temptation to the faithful than a long pair of female legs? Perhaps not.
