Figuring MO's product will be in demand in the coming months due to the bite of stressful recession and war, they can hold off the lawyers as they always had, and their then 7+% dividend (if putted to me) will come in handy to offset the interest I must pay to the Japanese creditors;

Careful with the tobacco stocks, Jay. The plaintiffs' bar now has a blueprint accesible to anyone who wants it that allows any reasonably competent lawyer with $200,000 to spend on a tobacco case to hit the big time. Can be literally had for shipping costs from the attorney who beat MO in California last week. In other words, the hard work against Big Tobacco has been done. The evidence is devastating, as we witnessed last week.

You're probably safe since you are a short term investor. However, one must be nuts to hold tobacco stocks for the long haul.

There are going to be lots of big verdicts against Big Tobacco in the future, in my opinion. Eventually, mass bankruptcies will happen as lawyers start filing more and more cases.
