I am sorry, your position on the matter seems rather shallow..... Good grief! Individual self-determination and freedom are shallow? We're not talking about people here who are retarded or mentally ill, I didn't think. You excused them earlier in this discussion, as I recall. Competent people have the right to choose their own paths in life. It is not up to you or me to decide for them. We can and do try to influence them, you by shaming them and me by enlightening them, but freedom means that we all get to make our own choices. I don't want to have anything to do with ignoramuses, just as I don't want to associate with people who are uncivil or nasty or shallow. But I'll defend with my last breath their rights to be any and all of those things if they so choose.
