"This could just as easily be the end as the beginning"

Completely agree. FWIW, I have been a buyer in the past couple of weeks. Down, of course, but my time horizon is 3-5 years so I am not worried about it. The reference to 1929 and the book was to offer some perspective. Despite the similarities, I think enough things are different.

I personally have a lot of faith in Greenspan and a strong fed, which we did not have in the 20's/30's. People blame him when they lose money, but I view his main job as keeping inflation down. As bad as things are now, it is better than when we had 10-15% inflation in the 70's. People forget so easy.

There is a large transfer of wealth taking place as the WWII & depresson generation passes on. A lot of that money will be put into the market. A lot of people who have been out of the market for years are getting back in because they are starting to see value for the first time in quite a while.
