Mini-Sized Dow Shatters Previous Volume Record
CHICAGO, October 9, 2002--Yesterday's volume in the Chicago Board of Trade's all-electronic mini-sized DowSM futures contract posted another record with 27,049 contracts traded. This broke the previous record of 20,800 contracts set just two weeks prior, on September 19. Average monthly growth in the CBOT® mini-sized Dow since its launch in April 2002 has been 17%.

The CBOT® launched a major marketing campaign for the mini-sized Dow in September, including a new Dow Complex Portal at www.cbot.com/dow. In an industry first, the portal includes real-time streaming quotes, including Depth of Market ("the book"), on-line interactive seminars, a real-time trading simulator, and an online investor tutorial – all free. Providing a 100% electronic trading vehicle, constant liquidity and more bang-for-the-buck, the CBOT® mini-sized Dow is providing traders true opportunity to capitalize on recent Dow volatility.

For more information about trading the new Electronic mini-sized Dow, visit the CBOT® Dow Complex Web Site where you will find features like free live quotes, and an electronic trading simulation.
