Go back three years, and start to read every page of their annual reports. I have been very happy with GTE, I have held it for 8 years, and believe we are going into a stronger period. In the meantime, I have been receiving a nice dividend and price appreciation for this "boring" company. My gut tells me that this company will not remain independent for much longer as further consolidation in the industry will take place. Our opinions of whether or not we remain independent do not matter if a solid offer comes in, we will have a jump in share value.
