Even the dullest dullard can comprehend that disarming a regime absolutely bent on possessing WMD is fruitless.

You see... Saddam is claiming that he has no WMDs currently.

Should inspectors locate such caches of WMDs in Iraq, it will, in effect, catch Saddam in a lie and prove that he cannot be trusted.

Upon such a discovery, we'll either have a casus belli for executing his direct overthrow, or for exerting even more restrictive measures.

Either way, Saddam will be placed in a VERY uncomfortable situation in which he will NOT be permitted to save face by obstructing or harassing the inspectors.
