Hi John,
In the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, there are more than enough facts to go around, and interpretations can sure vary widely. You and Nadine are both excellent debaters, marshalling facts to support your POV: SFD uses the "it's a fact that" technique in several posts to characterize what is only his opinion and reduce the conflict to "Yeah but it's all Israel's fault!"
It reminds me of Ross Perot's debate slogan, "It's just that simple." My reaction then was, "Well, Ross, it ain't. The economy, government and power politics are not "that simple." You and Nadine (among most others here) don't ignore facts, you interpret them differently. SFD ignores too much to make his argument credible to me.
NJ politics? Well, the major stories on the front page of the Asbury Park Press cover extortion by the mayor of Ocean Township and a possible coverup of "improper" behavior by the NJ Superintendent of State Police...at least it pushed the Forrester/Lautenberg race off the front page. :-/
BTW, the WSJ Review and Outlook page this am mentioned this:
In Montville, New Jersey, it's Republicans who are trying to "pull a Torricelli," in the words of one party official, and put a last-minute replacement candidate on the ballot for a township committee. "If the Democrats can do it, why not the Republicans?" said Joe O'Dowd, chairman of the Montville GOP.
Can't find any confirmation though...I checked the Bergen Record online but nothing there. Wouldn't surprise me if true... |
