My wife has had dealings with a fair number of personnel directors and management consultants, and I can tell you that their "collaborative" mask is generally seen as phony by the staff, and they are distrusted and assumed to have hidden agenda. It just comes off as dissembling, instead of laying their cards on the table. Also, the attempt to reassure people about one's positivity is always, in my wife's experience, considered a warning sign, and people start lying to the consultant or personnel director, telling her whatever she wants to here, because they are afraid of retaliation. After all, if there is no risk to their jobs, why is there a big push to evaluate and correct? |
