I can't defend the unions but have any of you ever worked on a assembly line? I did for one month on break. It was the worst job of my life. Anything they can do to get well paid is okay by me. I don't know how someone doesn't lose it after a couple of years of that kind of work.

The unions love that kind of work. They will do anything to keep people standing next to machines, doing mindless monotonous work, rather than reducing the number of people doing this type of work by increased productivity, automation etc. It is the #1 issue: job security.

Basically, they want people to stand there, being as unproductive as possible (so that more of these guys are needed), and they want these guys to make confiscatory wages, eventually bankrupting the employer. And then, once out of work, they will complain about imports, foreign competition, applying for jobs as security guards (once the reality sets in that they killed the goose that laid the golden eggs).
