Gordon,

there is one other thing that that bothers me. That is that nobody has picked up on muzzle flash even though some of the shots seem to be taken after dusk. I've fired enough .223 and 22/250 to know that both are flame throwers after dark.

I'm also concerned that the muzzle blast has never been focused on an area by any person that has heard it. This leads me to believe that perhaps the weapon used MIGHT be a shorty carbine....maybe 16 inches of barrel...or a T/C contender single shot pistol. The reason I say this is that in the old days when I hunted ground hogs, I never got one to stay after the 1st rifle shot if I missed. But, I could shoot all day long at them with a 5.5" .44 mag and they never dropped into the holes even with slugs hitting all around them. I believed this is because they could not get a bearing on where the sound was coming from as it dissipated from the short barrel.

THe weapon could be used with a flash suppressor and dissipator....but if it is a bolt fed rifle this is probably not the case.

I'm scratching mah head over this one.
