As you know scientific photography has had an "illustrious" history - not only as a storage medium, but also as a data acquisition technique. The literature is replete with examples. But those images. Beyond all imagination. Insight embedded in beauty.

Today, various electronic detectors have largely replaced the photosensitive emulsion. The raw data is a series of numbers. It's only when the numbers are converted to an image on the screen, that you get the

"Ahhhh".
