Yes, of course in the analogy, the tank would be ours, while Saddam's driving a Yugo. And Friedman isn't saying we should lose the game of chicken by swerving out of the Yugo's way, he's saying that for us, being "wild but not crazy" with our tank means, if we can't get our allies involved in the game, "opt instead for aggressive containment (which means: Don't ask, don't tell, just bomb any suspicious Iraqi weapons sites)." (itals mine)

That would represent driving our tank straight where we need to go, but not in a way that might damage it; the source of our tanks; and the neighborhood, unnecessarily.
