I don't know about whether it "will save us", but there's a certain degree of validity in the premise that the money from the last round of re-fis is about to actually arrive in consumer wallets here. That's based upon the usual administrative lags from when the apps went in ~60 days ago.

That might cause a bit of a rally by the people that have their ear right to the ground (daily/weekly sales reports from autos, retailers, etc.), but it won't change the corporate situation, nor does handing JSP another bullet prevent him from committing economic suicide.

However, it might make a nice traceout of a bounce here before the hoopla dies back down and we go for that third knock on SPX 775 before we crash through it.

A lot of ifs and maybes admittedly, but I can picture things playing out this way. By my calcs the short term upper downtrend line on the SPX is at ~900 and the intermediate line is at ~950, i.e. there is lots of room to move around and still be in the downtrend channel
