If the economic situation really deteriorates that stock certificate could literally be worth less than toilet paper. At that point in time physical possession of gold and silver would be all that mattered, from a monetary sense.

I doubt that we will ever get to that level of disaster but in 1928 people surely didn't expect what was awaiting them.

In my elementary <g> mind, if you are going to spend the money on CEF why not just take physical possession of the metal and have that extra security that stock certificates can never provide.
