I realize that the decision did not turn out the way you wanted it to turn out, but the real controversy wasn't the way the Court interpreted Florida law, it was the way they interpreted the Constitution.
I'd be happy to have a conversation with you about it, provided that you have actually read all the decisions, both Florida and SCOTUS, as well as the relevant parts of the US Constitution, the relevant Florida election law and the cases both courts relied on. I won't expect you to fully understand them, but I will expect you to have actually read them.
An acceptable alternative would be if you have read a law review article written by a Constitutional scholar. I don't care whether the law review article is in favor of the decision, or is opposed to the decision.
The only thing that matters to me is whether your opinion has been informed by a scholarly understanding of the actual legal issues at stake.
If not, and you are just playing armchair pundit, fine. We are all entitled to our opinions, and there's no rule that says we have to really understand what we are talking about. It's fun, it's harmless, and we learn from each other as we go along. |
