mike - Good point about the 10+ years of denial about Japan, quite aside from the denial within Japan.

My only contribution to that debate is to say that I do believe the US landscape is a different place in many respects that will affect the outcome, culturally and otherwise, and we stand a better chance than they did.

I continue to be amazed at the lack of comprehension by people of what we've experienced since the Y2K top. 999 out of a 1,000 investors don't (or choose not to) grasp the scale of the matter and it's equivalence in size to the fall from October 1929.

I find it astounding that people can continue to pooh-pooh the implications of the equity price collapse as if we're somehow bulletproof from the effects of such things in this day and age. I guess I must need to get with the program
