Europeans might change their minds if a few terrorists take these buildings and citizens down....

Remember that France had a fairly close call with the Algerian terrorists who hijacked a plane with intent to fly it into one of the Parisian buildings (la Tour Montparnasse most likely was their goal.) Luckily once they got the plane on the ground at the Marseille airport to ostensibly refuel, swat teams were able to do their work. This was widely reanalyzed in France after 9/11.

And France has had an ongoing series of Islamist terrorist attacks, attempts to derail the TGV trains, etc, not to mention ETA cells and Corsicans blowing up buildings here and there (the Bordeaux town hall was one of their laughing fingers in the face of the French government.)

Believe me, they are concerned about these scenarios, despite some appearances, and I'm pretty sure they are equally in Germany or other countries on the continent as well.
