This is very off topic so I probably will not contine on this topic here past this one post but am willing to take it to PM or another thread if anyone really wants to.

In Canada we have such tight gun laws that a good sniper rifle would never be in private hands.

And I suppose your drug laws can keep drugs out of private hands.

It does not take a military man, as I could hit a stationary target from 400-500 yards on a braced shot within a few inches with a gun I knew

With a rifle fireing 5.56 ammo? If so you are a very good shot. 5.56/.223 rounds don't do well at 500 yards. I understand the shots where at least mostly at much shorter ranger than that. More like 100 or 200 yards. That range shouldn't be that dificult and there would be no need for the sniper to be an expert marksman.
