The chronology of this has been interesting.

Don't know if you read the thread every day so will summarize a bit.

Can't remember the exact date but roughly August 10, it was leaked that the US had built a monsterously huge base in Qatar while nobody was looking. Approximately simultaneously there were a lot of "leaks" from less than reliable sources, e.g., Debka, Pravda, Asia Times, World Net Daily, and the like, that the US was engaged in a stealthy buildup in the region, and US special forces were coordinating this and that as a prelude to possible military action.

Here it is, August 8. BigBull put his finger on it at the beginning. He said "Speaking of "CentCom" looks like there's a little "sumpin' sumpin'" going on in Qatar."

Several of us on the board, me, BigBull, Nadine, started collecting dots and mulling over the ramifications.

This was about the time that Rumsfeld was ranting about leaks and laughing at the "frenzy" of the reporters.

So from my perspective this has been going on for a couple of months.

My first take was that we were going in, without Congress, without the UN, just doing it.

And then Congress and the UN and all the wise old men and sharp young men started yelling, 'No, not without the UN and not without Congress!"

And then, lo and behold, Bush went to the UN and told them that if they didn't do something about Saddam's continual thumbing his nose at his agreement to get rid of WMD, he'd do it for them.

And he asked Congress to give him a resolution authorizing the use of force.

And, who'da thunk it, Congress gave him what he asked for and the UN is about to do the same.

It's clearly been orchestrated from the start.

Is it because Bush is a big bad bully? Or is it because what he's saying makes sense, and is congruent with the truth?

Now, to answer your question, is it a problem if Saddam rolls over and lets UNMOVIC do whatever it takes to assure that there are no WMD in Iraq? Personally, no.

If the horse flies, so be it. We can all join hands and sing a medley of "Kumbayah" and "I'd like to buy the world a Coke and teach it how to sing."
