Talking about hanging hats on thin reeds

Tisdall says

If a unilateral war without allies or UN backing is postulated, as in this week's New York Times/CBS poll, a clear majority opposes Bush.

You counter with

If other countries participate in invading Iraq
Support 79
Oppose 18

If the United Nations supports invading Iraq
Support 79
Oppose 19

If Congress supports invading Iraq
Support 69
Oppose 28

But what are the responses if the UN is not backing the war. Or if allies do not join the war.

Your reed is so thin that you can barely hang an opinion on it, let alone a hat. Specious reasoning at its best. Or is it worst?
