I give it a 10% chance of happening, but I am hoping like hell that Bush's hard line stance has scared the shit out of Saddam enough that he gives our inspectors unfettered, anywhere, anytime access to the country. I really think that Saddam is insane enough to think he can beat the U.S. and his generals are caught between the hammer and the anvil, so they'll have no choice but to fight. I also think the present administration is going to settle old scores all over the place. Most days I find myself agreeing with them. But then in moments of clarity, I think my God the loss of life will be enormous and the aftermath could be disastrous even if we win. At times like this, I just cross my fingers and pray that Saddam finds a good long yellow streak in his heart somewhere and blinks. I firmly believe we need Saddam to blink, because, I don't think Bush/Rumsfeld/Cheney will. So much for brinksmanship. I don't like it.
