mine is that Sharon's govt is as culpable.

I know I won't change your mind, but I shudder when I read this. I am going to assume that you don't mean that Israel is as culpable as the Palestinians in what is going on. You really really don't like Sharon. He seems to be a real "bugaboo" to the American left.

There have been so many atrocities in the area that the Arabs can be blamed for in the last 40 years, and so few by the Israelis, that the ones that can be blamed on Israel are harped on over and over, and the people blamed for them castigated over and over and "demonized" by the left here. So I won't try to change your mind on Sharon. Wouldn't be possible.

Your view appears to be that Arafat is the only problem;

He is the immediate problem that has to be dealt with before more action can happen. As I have said before, and you will probably agree, Sharon would be nuts to do anything before the Iraq dust settles. He is figuring that the more involved in the mideast we become, the better deal he can cut. TWT if he is right.

Bloomberg of late. The mayor

Since I now skim the NYT daily, I have got a good bit of input also. I figure he got in because he spent a fortune, and the Dems were in chaos. I would expect that he would be a lousy Mayor, because he is not really a Politician, and NY is go hard to Govern. Loved the bit with the Columbus Parade, of course.

You and I will have some political fun between now and Nov 5th.

PS: Stephen Ambrose died of Lung Cancer today, age 66. That would have been me if I had not quit smoking in '74. I loved his books. Too bad his reputation will be hurt by the plagarism.
