<<highlights the mounting threat to Americans wherever they are in Indonesia.">> Sorry, U.S. embassy, but this attack is simply not about the U.S. The perpetrators aimed this squarely at the Indonesian government, which depends on the tourism revenues for foreign exchange, and as the main source of income on Bali, which the Muslim holy rollers despise for being Hindu (as the Balinese despise the "mainland" Indonesians). There were never very many from the U.S. in Bali, and for the last few years the State Department has discouraged travel to Indonesia. Both we and the Balinese would be better served by the U.S. government doing a bit of thinking before shooting off their mouths. By the way, Bali is a delightful place, and we're still considering a return visit.
