Darleen, I have been doing some homework on your grand-daughter's condition and I have to say that things are somewhat different since I was in the business. In fact, there seems to be quite a considerable advance in the understanding of the condition. Unfortunately, most of the current treatment approaches are still new and the long-term benefits of recommended treatment esp surgery are still uncertain. Nevertheless, as you explained, it seems that if the condition warrants it, surgery becomes mandatory because of the potential complications. I do hope all goes well for her.
