Friedman is losing it, IMO.

Actually, and I know this won't surprise you, I thought the column was quite good. At least I liked the viewpoint expressed. I thought it took him a bit too long to get there. But then I'm not a columnist.

Saw a C-Span thingie late last night that featured the editorial page editors of the NYTimes, Wall Street Journal, and a California paper. One of the questions was how hard was it to give up the daily column. And, funny, Gail Collins and Paul Gigot both agreed it was a blessing. The release of not having the two or three times a week when they had to come up with something bright and original to say was liberating. Or so they said.

I don't find either of them very impressive. I would say some good things about Howell Raines here but that would lead my critics to take us into a several days rant about the good ol' boy.
