Until the past few years, Bali was considered an exotic place for Americans to travel.
I believe I was in Indonesia in 96 b4 the Suharto's government fell. We bypassed Bali because so many
people that we knew told us it was a tourist trap, but you could find inexpensive places to stay
at that time, according to people that we spoke with.

After the Suharto government fell from power, we heard about the political instability in Indonesia,
and I wouldn't want to go back there, but I was not aware that Bali was considered a dangerous
place to visit.

"Both we and the Balinese would be better served by the U.S. government doing a bit of thinking before shooting off their mouths."

The Bush administration terrorizes Americans daily with reports about terrorists attacks. Many people
believe that the main reason the Bush administration dwells on terrorism and frightens Americans is
because there will be mid-term elections in the US this November.

If you go back to Bali, let me know how you enjoyed your trip!
