A friend of mine, was recently refused treatment for brain tumor, because she did not have $100K to put up front, and had no insurance.

Health insurance isn't that expensive, and well worth the price. Try this online quote program:

Sorry to hear about your friend. Depending on the type of brain tumor, she may not have a good prognosis. The "good" news is (and I know it's not very good), if she becomes impoverished she can get Medicaid.

This is a lesson for all of us to get health insurance and life insurance while we are still healthy. Disability insurance, too.

And for those on Social Security, even though you've got Medicare Part A and Part B, please get a Medigap policy, it is well worth the money.
