i guess the "deflationary effects of the Chinese economy" are the reason real estate prices are up 20%+ YoY in much of the country? and i guess that's why the median CPI is around 4%? This site indicates that CPI growth from August 2001 to August 2002 is more like 1.8%. Don't know where you get median CPI or why it should be more important than US average. As far as real estate, that is something that isn't being exported from China. bls.gov
