Norton System Works is a big resource hungry program. It has several different pieces to it so if you don't use them you shouldn't have them loaded if all you use Norton for is anti-virus protection. I have used SystemWorks 2001 and 2002 but finally decided the resource usage and the seemingly constant problems with updates going bad and disks that needed to be made weren't worth the aggravation once I got Windows XP. It's been basically trouble free so I've removed Norton and now rely on less voracious substitutes for what Norton did for me.
