Lee,

This is more than a minor nuisance that every consumer faces at some point. It is unfortunate that your home sale was delayed.

I know this is a day late and a dollar short, but did you consider leaving the old carpet down and offering a $3200 carpeting allowance to the buyer? That way they see the cash as a bonus and can elect to replace the carpet or leave it as is. Also, if they decide to replace they can choose the color themselves.

Sounds like you got stuck with two different dye lots and I don't know how hard it will be to match or whether they will need to start from scratch.

With the housing market booming as it is of late it also is hard to get good tradespeople into your home. A good installer would have verified availability before embarking on the project.
