Duke,

Lots of old products just won't work or won't work completely with WinXP. Drivers from Win98, ME, 2K or whatever you had before are not compatible with XP. If HP has decided not to provide drivers for the product you have (and they have pretty much abandoned many older products) then you're screwed if you go to XP.

Using the older all-in-one products with XP is extremely klunky and not fully-functional. The original drivers won't work, and the ones Microsoft provides with WinXP don't provide full functionality.

It's not unique to HP. Most printer manufacturers won't fully support older products under XP.
