I was just talking to my brother who lives in DC. He mentioned the shooting was right down the road from a batting cage and miniature golf course he took my family to last month. He also said it's in the town where his childhood friend, Stu, lives. I asked if he'd spoken to Stu lately and he said no. A few minutes later he asked me to hold because of call waiting. It was, yes, Stu. Turns out Stu had just gotten home after filling up at the local gas station. He said, like everyone, he's on edge everywhere he goes. He chose to go out at this late hour because he figured it was "safe."
