I watched various Muslim leaders on the talking head shows after the attacks, and the condemnations, if at all, were pitiful and weak. Perhaps Muslim leaders finally got the message and belatedly put out a few statements, but some Muslim leaders, such as Yasser Arafat, condemn terrorism even as they are promoting it. Other Arab leaders appear to give us lip service while knowingly harboring terrorists in their countries. Saudis are openly raising money for the families of sucicide bombers.

Along the lines of Mindmeld's point, do you have any doubt that if we were not meddling in the Mideast (amorally or morally), and that if Israel was not there as the ever present foil for Arab hatred, that these Arab countries would not be busy shooting each other up within one month's time? In my opinion, Afghanistan, with its continual tribal warfare, is a just a microcosm of larger country politics in a region only held in check by the U.S. and other outside powers.
