Gun Control

Normally, I am not an advocate of gun control. However, this terrible sniper attacks together with the new FAA security guidelines against allowing box-cutters on the plane got me thinking.

We agree that guns don't kill people, people do. By the same token, box cutters don't kill people, people do. However, we agree that it is difficult for us to protect a plane if we allow box cutters on the plane. For that reason, we disallow box cutters on the plane. In the same way, it seems to me that it is difficult for us to keep people safe in the country if we allow guns. This nightmare I see on the faces of these MD/Virginia folks is heart wrenching. Imagine just mowing your lawn and getting gunned down - no fault of your own. Go to a HD store with your spouse, do shopping and get gunned down. Pump gas and get gunned down. It is obvious that the Police can't easily keep us safe when we allow guns into the hands of snipers. It is time for us to control the spread of guns. At least make sure that only the person who bought it can fire it and that the actual firing gets recorded somewhere. To be accessed anonymously if there is a shooting.
