One thing people forget is that Osama and most of his followers were good friends of the US and on CIA's payroll during the 80s when the Soviets were in Afghanistan. Pentagon had already planned to attack Afghanistan in oct 2001 regardless of 9/11. It's a fight to monopolize central asia's oil reserves.
